Testimonials

We are honored by the compliments about our inventive food, inviting atmosphere, world wine list, and our attention-to-every-detail kind of customer care.

Since 1947 the Green Turtle has been an Islamorada restaurant destination. “The Turtle” had been such an iconic Islamorada dining landmark for so many generations that when, in 2005, Hurricane Wilma roared through there was never a question The Green Turtle would be back.

Since our renaissance in 2007, we have strived to be the kind of fun spirited place, with unparalleled food that draws a great cast of characters; just like famous founders Sid and Roxie Siderious created and championed for more than three decades. We feel that customers testimonials, from both locals and vacationers, are confirmation that we have achieved that goal. It is their kind words that make us strive to better our best.

You know we know Islamorada restaurant diners are picky, so these words are dear to us. As are our diners. Thank you all!

“5 Star Google.com Review”

When you first pull up, the outside does not do it justice. The inside was surprising. The appearance of the food was excellent. All of the food tastes amazing. Best food we had our whole trip…. the key lime pie is exceptional. Liked: Food, Service, Atmosphere, Value, Best key lime pie, Delicious food! Nice inside, Friendly staff

“Great Place to Eat!”

Great evening – we biked there from our hotel, had the entire patio outside to ourselves. The inside was full but we were able to occupy the entire outdoor patio with the fountain, which was lovely. Food was terrific, but portions are HUGE. They don’t take reservations but we did not have trouble getting seated.

“A Very Good Restaurant”

This is the finest restaurant we found in Islamorada. The food was great and a good value for the quantity. The salads are exceptional and all food was of highest quality. The folks know how to prepare a meal.

“Great food. Nice atmosphere. As soon as the door closes behind you your nose will let you know you’re in for a nice meal”

Loved the conch fritters and the yellowtail catch-o-the day. My girlfriend has a food allergy and they were the most accommodating restaurant we’ve ever been to. I’ll definitely be back.

“Great breakfast and atmosphere”

Great place…Lots of choice on the menu so every taste catered for with quality food and drinks on offer. Staff helpful and friendly. Easy to find with plenty of parking – ideal for anyone staying at cheeca lodge as within easy walking distance. Clearly a favorite with locals a swell as visitors which is always a good sign

“Always Good”

I have only ever visited this restaurant recently for breakfast but it is my favourite breakfast in the Keys. We call it our ‘grown up’ breakfast place and leave the children behind. Generally we have found the service good and the food excellent.

“Five Stars from Yelp”

At first, I thought this place was a hotel and to my surprise it was a fabulous restaurant that has the best brunch in Islamorada! The service is excellent!!

“This is a must stop in the Keys”

Great service, great food and the ambience is fine considering it not right on the water. I’m usually not one to try ribs when dining out but when a waitress walked by carrying an order to another table it gave me no choice but to try them. It was definitely the right choice.

“Great bar, great food and great staff”

We were in town last week for a guys fishing trip- our fishing guide said they did a nice job with fresh catch brought in as well as the regular menu.

We came two nights in a row based on the awesome preparation of our fish the first night. Add a very diverse and well priced wine list to the mix and no wonder we’ll be recommending it to friends and be coming back ourselves. Thanks guys!

“Absolutely delicious”

So when you are driving along this beautiful highway through the islands of Florida Keys, one thing becomes apparent. Its very difficult to see what a place is like by just poking a look through the window. I was traveling alone and so I had the tourist map open to one side whilst driving and saw this coming up.

I saw the name and on impulse decided to pull in when I saw it.. I passed it and thought .. should I turn around.. and I am glad I did.
..As a seasoned American eater, knowing portion sizes are always massive and I was here for lunch.. I went for a starter only…It was the Seafood Fishcakes which are made from Shrimp and crab. Absolutely delicious and the size was just two cakes with a lovely dressing and leaf salad. No silly American portions here. Cutting into it you can still tell that its crab and shrimp you can still get the texture of the different pieces of meat… Service was great and good place for a stop off.

“Food was fabulous and so was the service”

My husband and I went out for dinner and heard this place was awesome. Well, it was. We started off with the lobster mac and cheese. It was the creamiest and most delishious we have ever had. We also had the goat cheese and beet salad. It was perfect. He had the king prime rib and I had the rib eye steak. They were so tender and cooked to perfection. The service was quick and we didn’t have to wait to be seated. I would recommend this restaurant highly for great food. It is not on the water but it is a nice place to go for great food.

“Favorite Food in Islamorada”

Food was outstanding! service was great and restaurant was very clean. Best food on the Island. Lots of history and many years of serving travelers shows.

“Great breakfast & dinner at the Green Turtle Inn!!!”

We always make a point to hit the Green Turtle for at least one of our meals when we visit Islamorada. After eating fish for lunch and dinner for several days, I always look forward to their prime rib on Saturday night. We usuallly hit them up for breakfast on our last day before heading home. The French toast is AWESOME! This place is a little more upscale than many in the area. I wouldn’t wear a tank top but shorts and flip flops are still quite appropriate. They get busy on the holidays, so better make reservations!

“Best Breakfast – reasonably priced.”

We spent three days in Islamorada and we ate at the Green Turtle Inn two mornings for breakfast. It was fabulous and the prices were very reasonable!! I highly recommend the Key West Eggs Benedict. It is delicious! Season begins around Christmas time so I imagine it gets pretty crowded in the winter time. But even if you have to wait for a seat, it is well worth it. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The orange juice was delicious (although a little on the expensive end) and the portions were very satisfying. Hint: Order the conch and eggs if you are extra hungry!

“Four Stars from Yelp”

This place has been here forever. My Dad ate there in 1950!! It is way updated and way upscale (for the Keys) and better than ever (says 88 yr old Dad). Great menu, beautiful renovation, excellent service. Our favorite place.

“Great food and atmosphere!”

I highly recommend this restaurant. My friends and family had traditional Thanksgiving dinner there. It was a great way to spend Thanksgiving. Everyone had a fantastic time. Everything was well prepared. The atmosphere was fun and happy. It is really an adorable place.

“OMG covers it!”

From breakfast to dinner this place is off the hook! Great staff, great food and don’t leave breakfast unless you’ve had their giant sticky bun we affectionately call “the turtle” with a Starbuck’s. But the Turtle sleeps on Monday, so you only have 6 days to visit them!

“Green Turtle Inn is fabulous…”

Green Turtle Inn is fabulous. During the day it is a local, family-style eatery that serves up delicious home-style food. At night, it is a sassy,
metropolitan-style bistro that serves up fine wines and contemporary dishes. You’ll forget you’re in the keys, although you’re among tourists and locals. You must try this place if you’re passing through Islamorada.

“Five Stars from Yelp”

At first, I thought this place was a hotel and to my surprise it was a fabulous restaurant that has the best brunch in Islamorada! The service is excellent!!

“Sweet little place serving healthy food”

This is a nice little place that has been around for awhile and got into its groove. Good menu of local dishes and our choices were prepared so that they do not leave you feeling greasy. The steamed veg were a welcome addition to a plate of rice and grilled fish. Delicate flavours. First night that we went we had excellent service…Well worth a visit.
